Cabyll-Uisge
The Cabyll-Uisge is a water horse which lurks in the lakes, rivers and pools of the Isle of Man. As well as appearing as a horse, the Cabyll-Uisge can also appear as a handsome man in order to lure young ladies into the water where it then turns back to a horse and tears them to pieces.
The Cabyll-Uisge is not unique to the Isle of Man but is also part of Irish and Scottish Gaelic Folklore although there are some differences. In Irish and Scottish Folklore the water horse is known as Each Uisge and inhabits only large areas of salt water and inland lakes.
Another variation of this legend is the Kelpie which tends to inhabit running water.
